DLSite wants to stream your lewd games to a live audience
Accessible events are the future in Naughty List News #72
DLSite is organizing the Hentai Love Expo, which they call the “world's first informational program about hentai games,” made for adoring fans and hard-working creators alike. The event will be a live stream held on March 29th, between 22:00 and 24:00 PST.
But what is DLSite? And what do they have to offer the adult gaming industry?
What is DLSite?
DLSite is a Japanese digital distribution platform that was founded in 1996. It caters to the otaku subculture in Japan and sells doujin, manga, videos, games, and all other kinds of digital products.
The site is split into three categories: All ages, R-18, and R-18 (BL/TL). You can find your favorite hentai and adult games under R-18, with the otome and Boys Love (BL) products under a separate category. Adult products on the website are censored per Japanese law, meaning genitals and penetrative sex will be blurred or blacked out.
While DLSite caters mainly to the Japanese market, they also offer many titles translated into English. In addition, they’ve offered an English version of their website since 2004, which was merged into the main site last year.
Hentai Live Expo
It’s still early days for the event. At the time of writing, the schedule for the Hentai Live Expo was yet to be unveiled by DLSite. But the organizers did announce they would be partnering up with PUSH! Publications, Future Fragments, The Berry Guild, and others.
I think this event is one to keep your eye on. Adult game developers get very few opportunities to promote their games in this way. As such, developers are eager to jump on board. From what I’ve read so far on their Discord server, participants are cutting new trailers for their games with unparalleled enthusiasm.
DLSite is correct in their claim that their Hentai Live Expo is one-of-a-kind; I can’t recall the last time that Steam highlighted its catalog of adult games in such a way, for example. So if this event proves to be a success, it could be a recurring opportunity to get your games in front of an eager audience.
If you want to help spread the word about Hentai Live Expo, the organizers encourage you to follow the official account on Twitter and/or join their Discord server. This is the first time DLSite has run an online event like this so there are bound to be some hiccups, technical or otherwise.
