💌 Summertime plans, 3D dresses, and more in Mr. Hands' Naughty List #24
Hello, lovelies!
According to my wife, there are too many games out there with gravity-defying titties, but not enough with proper mipple (male nipple) action. I think she’s just not looking in the right places, so I welcome any suggestions you might have!
And if you’re looking for weekly news about the adult gaming industry, you’ve come to the right place! Subscribers get this newsletter in their inbox every Sunday. Doesn’t that sound just perfectly cozy?
Now let’s get into it!
Summertime Saga is ready for a hot summer filled with updates 😎
With almost 30,000 supporters on Patreon, Summertime Saga is one of the biggest adult games on the platform. The team has posted a development schedule to their page to highlight what is coming up for the game in future updates.
Summertime Saga has stopped doing numbered releases and instead gives their updates more human-friendly names. They say this helps avoid confusion when talking to their community about what’s coming up.
Their next big update, the Tech Update, will introduce a new map and new locations to visit. Some of these locations will be immediately accessible while others will come in future updates. The upcoming Tech Update will also push upgrades like support for higher resolutions and widescreen monitors. Finally, bug fixes and general improvements will provide a solid foundation for later updates.
You can find a free demo of Summertime Saga on their Patreon page. You can also support them monthly to get early access to new versions of the game.
Steam routes traffic to new analytics 📈
Steam announced a long-overdue update to their back-end, allowing store pages to track incoming traffic using industry-standard UTM links. These links use plainly visible signifiers instead of cookies to track where visitors are coming from.
As Simon from GameDiscover.co puts it in their excellent newsletter:
My 2c: perhaps UTM tracking is not the all-in-one panopticon that some high-end game marketing folks were looking for. […] But for a ‘regular dev’ or even on Steam who uses multiple promotion methods (Twitter, email, own website), it’s great.
I’m inclined to agree! This change will finally allow creators on Steam to discern where their customers are coming from and change their marketing strategy accordingly.
And who knows? If creators can now see their biggest traffic drivers, maybe this is an incentive for Valve to finally add affiliate links as well…
Dressing up Love Nikki in three dimensions 👗
Paper Games released Shining Nikki, a 3D dress-up game, in Japanese. That may not strike you immediately as significant, but they are also the makers of Love Nikki, the extremely popular dress-up game with over 10 million downloads on Android and iOS.
While the game has been out for a few years on the Chinese and South Korean markets, it only recently came out in Japanese as well. This caught the attention of @__Tyu, who is a hardcore fan of dress-up games in general and Love Nikki in particular. When they saw this new game they jumped right on that:
And what they found was very impressive indeed:
They also made a comparison to Love Nikki, which really highlights the difference:
I’m personally not well-versed in the world of dress-up games, which makes me appreciate this thread by @__Tyu all the more! I can definitely relate to playing games in Japanese when you can’t wait for a translation, I’m still waiting on an English version of the horse girl racing game.
Writing Wrap-Up 📖
OpRainfall reports on the upcoming titles from NekoNyan Soft:
The news drought is over, NekoNyan is ready to bless you with many reveals! One of the most prominent visual novel publishers of late took to Twitter to reveal their secrets. In particular, the secret projects that has many thinkers speculating.
BlerdyOtome has another great list of recommendations for those on a budget:
In a world where it’s all about the almighty dollar, sometimes it’s a little tough to make our pennies stretch enough to accommodate our hobbies. But, there are plenty of ways to balance your budget while still enjoying the things you love, you just have to be a little thrifty about it.
Complex Relations writes about choices and multiple protagonists:
It is significantly more challenging though to write choices in scenes where all the main characters are present, which can be viewed from the perspectives of multiple characters, when the events themselves are independent of which character is narrating them.
Twine is a tool for writing game narrative that recently got an interesting update:
But at the end, Harlowe finally became, for the first time, a hypertext fiction coding language I could be proud of. Even now, there's still some extra features I wish I'd been able to fit in, but this version feels like the first version where Harlowe is "complete", as my original vision for the story format in 2014 had resembled.
Esoteric Erotica posted about the style guide they use for the writing on their game:
We all have our different ways of writing. But a game needs a unified style. So here's a brief rundown of all the conventions we use when writing. Breaks from these conventions in the text can occur but are, in essence, errors and need to be fixed.
LewdPixels wrote about how to add achievements to your Ren’Py game:
First you should determine which goals you’d like a player to achieve. A mixture of easily obtained achievements and ones that are harder to get will satisfy most of your player base.
They also wrote about how to improve your render times with Daz3D:
Ultimately there is no silver bullet to this question, but there are things you can do that can help, mainly in the form of lighting, decluttering your scene, or, if you have the pockets for it, upgrading your computer.
XBIZ reports that OnlyFans is threatened with breaking a very old law:
PHOENIX — Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) sent a letter yesterday to the Department of Justice demanding that OnlyFans be investigated and prosecuted for “promoting prostitution” under a controversial Segregation-era law called the “White Slave Traffic Act.”
Cheeky chuckle 🤭
