Hello, lovelies!

I have a peculiar and specific problem with E3: I never know when it starts and I definitely don’t know when it ends. I think we had an E3 last week? But is it over now? Are we still in one? Who can tell!

Luckily, between the announcements of all the big tentpole games, there were plenty of announcements for games that ask you to pitch a tent too. Let me walk you through some of those!

True Love Covers All Bases! asks you to pitch a home run for love ⚾

True Love Covers All Bases! is a dating sim with a sporty twist. The latest game from darkmajik has you managing your players, discovering their stories, and of course, socializing with them.

While you’re trying to guide your players towards true love, sports still need to be played! Game matches play out based on your players’ stats but you can change the tide by using your coach callouts at the right time.

The game is still very early in development, the best way to keep up with it seems to be to sign up for their newsletter.

I’m very intrigued about this game myself! It seems they’re trying to do something similar to my own game, combining stats-driven management with a dating sim. And that’s very important to me since it’s been really hard to find good references for the game design of Up There They Love!

Batman is not a cunning linguist 😸

Twitter has been having a helluva week after news came out that Batman doesn’t go down on his lady friends because, according to DC, “heroes don’t do that”.

The debacle stems from a quote from Harley Quinn co-creator Justin Halpern talking to Variety about how writing for that show was different from others he’s worked on. Halpern points out that he was given a lot of leeway in the writing of the show, until:

“[…] we had a moment where Batman was going down on Catwoman. And DC was like, ‘You can’t do that. You absolutely cannot do that.’ They’re like, ‘Heroes don’t do that.’ So, we said, ‘Are you saying heroes are just selfish lovers?’ They were like, ‘No, it’s that we sell consumer toys for heroes. It’s hard to sell a toy if Batman is also going down on someone.’”

This prompted a lot of, say, discussion, about the Batman character. Including the shape of his helmet and whether he doesn’t perform cunnilingus as Batman to prevent him being linked to his Bruce Wayne alter ego.
