Court elves, ancients and other creatures in Price for Freedom: Avarice ⚔
During my travels around the Interwebs, I sometimes discover these amazing games that I then have no choice but to rant and rave about. And as you probably guessed, this is one of those games. 😍
Price of Freedom: Avarice is a top-down role-playing game, hardcore in both senses of the word. 🤭 Featuring a fantasy story with over 250,000 words right now, the game combines an old-school RPG with a mechanically satisfying combat system. ⚔
With an elaborate wiki and a supporting comic as well, it is clear that an incredible amount of craftsmanship went into constructing its world and characters. 📖

Her movements limited to hopping around, Yui must now find a way to escape the pyramid while avoiding being captured by the Queen. Likewise, it wouldn't be wise to be captured by any of the Queen's roaming slaves, pits of living slime, or other nasty traps. 😬
Featuring a total of 54 unique capture and punishment scenes, this game in pre-alpha already has plenty of content to offer! 💦

Designing a game around dancing 💃
Besides working full-time in the video games industry and writing this newsletter, I’m also trying to build a visual novel and character management sim called Up There They Love. 💦
This week I showed a prototype of the night gameplay to a friend of mine, who is an actual game designer:
He had a lot of feedback for me, most importantly that my game’s mechanics were centered around control instead of cooperation. 😱
With his help and that of another gamedev, I was able to redesign my mechanics around cooperation. I outlined how I approached the redesign in this thread:
I’m currently working on turning this design into a digital prototype, which I will share once it’s actually playable. 😅
