2022 was a wonderful year for adult gaming, and I’ve seen unprecedented growth in this little newsletter. The people are starving for great adult games, and I’m here to deliver. I hope you’ll forgive me if I didn’t include your favorites in this obligatory end-of-the-year list!

The following games are presented in no particular order, except the last one, which is the official (and prestigious!) Naughty List News 2022 Adult Game of the Year. 🏆

First Bite

A fan-fiction writer who loves all things supernatural gets more than she bargained for when she dares to enter a strange house on Halloween Eve. There she finds three bored and sexy vampires who treat her as their plaything.

First Bite is a very gay visual novel that dares to ask important questions, like “Who do you stan in KPop?”, “What's your opinion on swords?” And would you like to become dinner for a sexy vampire of your choosing? This short visual novel has 25 ways to die, so getting your preferred ending may still take some work! And although there is no explicit sex in the game, there is hopefully plenty of pining and innuendo to fulfill your gay vampire needs.

The Impregnation of the Elves: Conquest of the Arrogant Fairies by Impregnation

You are an orc who has been imprisoned by elves to be treated as breeding stock. The elves pump the semen from your kin because their species lack men to breed with. Luckily, you were blessed by the Goddess with the skills needed to fight back and put the elves in their place.

First off, yes, that’s the actual ridiculously long title of the game, but I’ll stick with The Impregnation of the Elves for brevity. This is a 1-on-1 fighting game where you must defend against attacks from these arrogant elves and then strip them of their “armor” with your own blows. But be careful because getting the timing wrong will get you dominated by your opponent!

I thought The Impregnation of the Elves was a lot of fun, but it could have been better. There aren’t as many variations in the combat as I would have liked, and I found it very hard to get the timing right when sweeping the mouse over my 4K screen. Every match goes the same: Focus on stripping their armor before you start chipping away at their health bar. Some characters do introduce slight variations on this formula, with mixed results.

Overall, I do recommend the game. I love the game mechanics, and the unlockable skills add a bit of variation to the combat. The Impregnation of the Elves gets a lot of praise from me for how it manages to weave a theme of domination into the actual gameplay.

Isekai Quest

A young man is on his way to the store when he’s struck by a truck while crossing the street. Through death, he’s transported to Harem World, filled with anime women. Your goal now is to build a harem through match-3 puzzle combat. Damage your opponent by making matches, but they will do the same to you every few turns.

I’m a sucker for a match-3 puzzle game. I know they’re cheap and easy to make; I’ve even made one myself at one point. But there’s something about slotting gems into place to clear lines that is so uniquely satisfying that I can play these games for hours. Yet, even match-3 puzzle games can get stale if they don’t offer anything fresh to the formula. What Isekai Quest does right is that it gives each opponent a unique mechanic that ties into their personality.

For example, the forgetful Betty tries to do damage with her random magic potions, but these can be turned on her instead. Meanwhile, the pious Cornelia takes a long time to charge up her attack, so getting rid of them as quickly as possible is key. It’s a small touch, but it makes each character stand out more.

You have to defeat each character multiple times to get their sex scene, but this is where a bit of roguelite gameplay comes in. Each battle gets progressively harder, and losing a match resets your progress with all characters. However, you keep all the items and upgrades you’ve collected in your playthrough, so you can claw your progress back in relatively little time.

Treasure of Nadia

When your father dies, he leaves behind a house for you on a remote island called Cape Vedra, and a mysterious treasure to boot. Unfortunately, you’re not the only one on the hunt for this treasure, and soon you’ll have to fend off other interested parties…

Of all the games on the list, this one kept me busy the longest in 2022. There is an incredible amount of story content to explore in Treasure of Nadia. After 16 hours of play, I’m still only at 55% completion.

Although the gameplay is pretty standard RPG Maker fare of running around, talking to people, and putting items in your inventory, Nadia looks absolutely stunning. This is because the developers used 3D models for all their characters and environments and have painstakingly created a jaw-dropping 2500 animations for the game.

Honestly, the place should have been called “MILF Island” because there’s hardly a woman under 40 living there. And don’t get me wrong, they’re all terrific! Each character in the game has a rich, interesting backstory and a compelling reason to jump your bones. For example, Naomi wants to get back at her husband, while Emily needs to test out the love potion she’s developing. Their storylines all clash and come together in interesting ways, and it’s a real page-turner!

My extremely mild criticism of Nadia is that the quests don’t flow together nicely. There were many points during my playthrough where I retrieved the magic Doodad, or unlocked the important Whatsit, only to stand there, thinking: Now what? This usually involved running around the island like a headless chicken, interacting with everyone and everything, until giving up and clicking on the Magic Hint Crystal in my inventory.

Orc Massage

An innocent and celibate Orc moves to the big city to start a new life as a massage therapist. Your VIP clients are the worst of the bunch. They lead successful but incredibly stressful lives and come to you for pain relief.

I never thought a game about an orc bonking various magical creatures could be about tenderness, but Orc Massage pulls off this feat with style. Clients have their own needs, including intimate ones, and you must navigate this through the massaging mechanics. You can’t simply button-mash your way through victory! It’s a careful balancing act not to overdo the massage while not running out of steam yourself.

When you're successful with the massage, there is a very nice and gradual build-up to sex with subsequent massage gameplay. And the sex itself, it must be said, is super hot. Each character has their own reasons for using your services, and their personality really shines through in the sex scenes. Orc Massage is an incredibly innovative and tender adult game that shows some of the best this genre has to offer!

Karryn’s Prison

Karryn is the personal secretary of the Emperor and a confident wielder of the halberd to boot. So she does not have to think twice when he gives her a special mission: He needs her to replace a failing warden at a men’s prison.

Karryn’s Prison is a corruption RPG, and it’s a hoot and a half. Karryn must fight to control her prison by defeating the inmates in combat or sexually humiliating them. Unfortunately, they can do the same to you, and each time you land on your butt, it’s a little bit harder to keep your dignity and authority intact…

What the game does very well is that it gives you the sense that control is slipping through your fingers. You start the game with some advantages, but the deck is stacked against you. Not even your guards can be trusted to do their job properly. Thus, it’s very easy to land in a spiral of corruption, especially when you try to earn money with minigames like the waitress job and stripping for the inmates.

Karryn’s Prison is a thrilling and exciting corruption story because you’re supposedly in control. So are you telling yourself that you’re losing on purpose to get to the sex scenes, or is your subconscious giving you a hint?

I started playing Karryn’s Prison in January of 2022 and struggled to put it down that month. I’ve since started a new playthrough where I try to be as slutty as possible, which is surprisingly just as hard as becoming Empress!

🏆 Opportunity: A Sugar Baby Story

You’ve probably noticed in my list of recommendations that I have a bias toward adult games with interesting gameplay mechanics over ones with compelling stories. Yet Opportunity: A Sugar Baby Story, the game I recommend above all others, is a straightforward slice-of-life kinetic novel with few choices during its story. That's because I think the game shows the best of what the adult gaming medium has to offer.

Opportunity: A Sugar Baby Story is by far the most “mature” game I played in 2022. Rarely does an adult visual novel focus on the sexual desires of a single mother who has to juggle the needs of her small children with her own, often conflicting, needs for connection. And yet, Opportunity makes it look easy.

Jackie is written as an engrossing and believable character who can barely shoulder the weight of her responsibilities. She has two young children, the same number of student loans, and can barely pay her rent every month with the money she earns at her part-time bakery job. So when an old flame shows up in her life again and casually makes her an offer of sex for money without much strings attached, how could she refuse?

What follows is an incredibly compelling narrative of sexual growth, rekindling old passions, and navigating love and sex against a backdrop of late-stage capitalism.

Opportunity shows that stories about love, sex, and romance deserve to be told, especially between characters in the middle stages of their lives. And that is why I would have no problem recommending this game to anyone dipping their toes into the adult gaming medium.
