Hey, naughty news fans!
This week has been a wild ride for Twitter. Now that the platform is owned by the (theoretically) richest person in the world, swift action has been taken to undermine basically everything about the platform.
If you’re not up to speed with the goings-down at Twitter, there’s a very good summary to be found on Platformer:
Cohost
I would love to dive more into the implications of a rapidly changing Twitter landscape for adult creators, but I’ve been very busy this week with life stuff.
What I will say for now is that I expect Twitter to implode rather quickly. As of writing this Sunday morning, some people at Twitter who were unceremoniously fired on Friday are now being asked to come back to work. Twitter might come out of these changes okay, but I think its prospects are extremely dire.
As such, I’m branching out to Cohost, which is a cool mix between Twitter and Tumblr that is still very scrappy and new. I’ve signed up for Cohost Plus, their premium service, not because it offers any material advantages but because I want to see their little start-up succeed. What’s great about the platform is that they explicitly allow adult content.
I will likely be tweeting less and chosting (posting on Cohost) more. One of the topics I wanted to write about right away was the idea that there are two kinds of performance when game programmers talk about optimizing a game’s code.
Finally, an excellent introduction to the platform is COHOST IS NOT MEANT TO BE A REPLACEMENT FOR TWITTER (or anything else, for that matter), and What This Means For You, A New User by @Bigg. You should follow them, as they also update the extremely relevant Porn Game Screencaps of A Certain Quality on Cohost.
Buying a house
On a personal level, It’s been a challenging week for me. I’m currently in the process of buying a house, which is moving extremely fast. My wife and I called about the house on Tuesday, did a viewing of the place on Thursday, had a call with the real estate agent on Friday, and now we have to make our final offer next Tuesday.
The market we’re looking to buy into is extremely hot so we will have to do some Extreme Groveling to have a chance at buying this house. As you might expect, this has kept me plenty busy this week. Because remember, I still had to do my regular full-time job.
Luckily, none of that will stop me from getting you the news!
